The Rest of 2019

I will rattle thorough these photos as quickly as I can. Lace socks for a friend.  July 4th marked us being here for 3 years. I created this bed for the anniversary. I gave these 2 cast iron cockerels to my Granny around 2000. She now has dementia and has gone into a care home. I was offered them back. They still had traces of the original bright colours I had painted them in for her. She loves bright colours still. I gave them a makeover in white hammerite paint for metal. The seating in the picture above the last one, needed cushions for comfort so I made a set of 6 like this.  Grey cotton socks for myself from Hanabira cardigan leftovers. I went to Kate Humble (from Springwatch and Autumnwatch on TV) farm just the other side of the River Wye for a natural plant dyeing of yarn course.  These were my results. Christmas cones for a gift from felt. Greyhounds in Need dog coat donation make.  Crofters yarn was on sale. I made a beret and sock set f

Antigua needs urgent animal help

The rescue Many Tears Rescue who gave us Rupert my daughter’s trainee service dog and our 2 new dogs (story to follow once I get photos off iPad with a mallet!!!!!) is trying to fill a free shipping container to go to Antigua. Firms are all offering their services free to get these goods to the island. There is so much good will out there! Things ordered on Amazon Prime immediately to go to their address will get there in time. We only have until 29th February. https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/17QXI0KI5PBIS?ref_=wl_share You can read about how the founders’ holiday turned into a helping and fact finding mission just like my trip to Cyprus. (And 3 of our current dogs.) https://www.manytearsrescue.org/page_.php?i=108 I’m sorry to spring this on you with such short notice. Please help if you can. Prices begin at £3. The 4 rescues out there have very little and buying things there is costly as it’s an island so anything you can do, helps. Thank you! 2019 pics will follow

I made a lot of child lap blankets for my daughter’s community craft group to sell to raise money for more supplies. A big joy for 2019 was the pond. The garden is starting to come together. It’s only taken 3 years so far. I had some chunky teal yarn leftovers which made this children’s jacket. For ages I adored a French General fabric I had used in a quilt. It has a vintage feel so this 1940s  blouse pattern was ideal. It looks good with the tweed jacket I also made. The back gates got painted and I laid a path to them from bits I already had in the garden. Gravel was added to the car park area. Sorry this is in order of making rather than logic! Another mini blanket. For fans of Sex Education on Netflix, this is one of the filming locations in Redbrook over the river Wye. The pub with the multi level beer garden is The Boat Inn.
