Andy Margrett is Ross On Wye's Rock God. An amazing player, so humble, a nice guy. Check out some of his youtube videos! He's playing at the Kings Arms in Ross on Saturday. We were in Ross yesterday evening having a picnic by the river with cheese and pickle sandwiches (as is traditional) when we saw the advert. This place is soul food! I added to my uncle's birthday present pile. Both he and I rescued baby wood pigeons when they had fallen from the nest when we were children. No wonder Nana didn't blink an eye when I brought in mine who I named Percy. She had seen it all before with my uncle! LOL Isn't it funny how some unexpected things just run in families.  Anyway there were only scraps left of the wood pile fabric handily cut into triangles from another quilt, so I turned them into cup mats to match the pigeon mat.  I finally had some inspiration about what to do with some of the fabric I had been given to make things for charity with. Today is another 28c + day of sun. The weather seems to have influenced my makings. My 3 wooden recorders needed better cases than the zipped sort they came with which could scratch them.  The pens in my bedside cupboard needed a proper home. I have had this old card set since my teens. The box is getting a little shabby, so time for a cover. My latest socks. They will be in the same style as the ones below. I finished these socks from ball ends last night. As slouch socks they are perfect for walking boots. I can just pull them up to my knees to go inside wellies.  I played with scraps to make this journal cover. The rainbow diagonal is one of my favs.  Years ago I went to Egypt and brought back some scarves to use as fabric. This is what I made from the leftovers. I liked the tassels so this runner was born.  The tiniest bits managed to make a pocket front for a future project. The main pieces went on these Bedouin Tents. The design is based o

The last few days have brought some finishes. Leonie Morgan’s Pop Flowers from stash dk yarn was a joy to make. The pot and mask based on V for Vendetta survived biscuit firing and are now painted in acrylics. Finally the crochet hook roll shared last time has been joined by a roll down bag, so I can vary the size according to my project. With the final scrap from the nasturtium fabric, I made a pouch for the tin of yarn sewing up needles.

May Makings to almost Midsummer

Hi Readers! I know, long time no see from me but I have been doing a few crafty things. I'm still stash busting as much as possible. Has anyone else taken stock of their stash and wondered how they were ever going to use it up in their lifetime? So no more buying FQs without a specific purpose for me! ... well that is what I keep telling myself! A baby hat from leftover dk. I stained these oak chairs back to as original as much as I could.  The woodshed fun makeover with new fascias is complete. The Norway inspired wool felt and appliqués is finally finished. It was so weird working on it with the sunshine outside Yes this really was how far behind I got with my crafting when the cottage and garden needed attention. Each is a real building I saw in the right colour apart from one. I bought some pvc covered sage green cotton with cream stars on for the chair seats. Of course the table had to have the same protection too. The curtains are Honeysuckle from Country
