May Makings to almost Midsummer

Hi Readers!
I know, long time no see from me but I have been doing a few crafty things. I'm still stash busting as much as possible. Has anyone else taken stock of their stash and wondered how they were ever going to use it up in their lifetime? So no more buying FQs without a specific purpose for me! ... well that is what I keep telling myself!

I stained these oak chairs back to as original as much as I could. 
The woodshed fun makeover with new fascias is complete.
The Norway inspired wool felt and appliqués is finally finished. It was so weird working on it with the sunshine outside Yes this really was how far behind I got with my crafting when the cottage and garden needed attention. Each is a real building I saw in the right colour apart from one.
I bought some pvc covered sage green cotton with cream stars on for the chair seats. Of course the table had to have the same protection too. The curtains are Honeysuckle from Country Diary of an Edwardian lady, so the colours are ok together. 

I made a second amp cover in another fabric in the range. Sorry no pic as Blogger is making a meal of accessing the photos on my ipad. I have to load the photos from there but they don't always all arrive but I can't tell  until I come on this computer, as I can only see the first 2 photos on my ipad. 
Frustrating!
I wish Blogger was mobile friendly!
Another snow project! Leonie Morgan’s Snowflake blanket design. I'm making her Pop Flowers at the moment which feels far more in keeping with the weather.

This lilac yarn wasn’t quite right for Snowflakes so was my first crochet cardigan for a child and there was enough left over for a hat.
This made me smile. I still have one clover amour hook to collect but I needed a little cheerful sewing project. I love how it  turned out. My old hook roll now contains my metal hooks.
Retried! Here is the missing amp cover photo. They blend in better than the black they come in. Slowly the cottage is becoming more as we want it. A non leaky roof should start to happen next week.

Thank you Ulla. The Norway project was in my head for a long time, but sadly my hands were lagging far behind. I’m glad I have finally finished my snow themed projects.

A baby quilt for my goddaughter's daughter born this month. After making the Splendid Sampler Quilt for a year in pink and greys, this was the last colour combination in the world I wanted to do, but those are the colours her mother said her room will be in. It has blue tit birds and cow parsley and bees on, so it suits August. A cover for her medical book with cone flowers on. They are in flower in the garden, so again suitable for August. These are the first wheel turned pots I have made! There was an entire day allowed in the pottery room and boy did I need it to learn the technique. Really proud of them. Horace the Gargoyle and Cottage Makes

 Horace the Gargoyle has an important job.  The hold the bag containing various bird foods. A Great Tit came in onto the bedroom window sill one morning so I used the bird fabric at the top, and Mary Engelbreit  garden fabric for the rest of the outside. I added a pocket to the inside just in case I want to use it when gardening in Spring. The pocket should be enough for seed packets. There has also been this make from a vintage piece of Diary of an Edwardian Lady "Wild Flowers." It covers the little practice amp, and goes with the curtains in the living room which also come from the Diary of an Edwardian Lady range. Da dar! Finished with a plain cream lining and a green dotty binding. The main amp will get the same treatment when the odd metre of the same fabric I tracked down, arrives. I am liking this going away from plastic bags in the cottage and trying to make it cosy and pretty for these colder months which we spend more indoors.

Work In Progress

Welcome to my first blog post here at Rowan Tree Cottage. Google Photos app is still trying to take all the pics from the iPad. We have been at the cottage for a year now so making things has been on a back burner while we tamed the garden and adapted to living in the forest. I hope to share the forest with you, some gallivanting about the area, a bit of history where I can, the garden and things I am making, in future posts. To old friends: welcome, have a cup of tea and a slice of cake or some home made lemonade as the sun is shining, and we will have a natter here throughout the year.
